SEVILLA STORY
Café Sevilla was opened in 1987 by Spanish-born owners Rogelio and Janet Huidobro, who would gather with friends longing for the traditional and authentic ambiance of Spain. Sevilla started as a small Tapas Bar and became popular immediately, and its popularity and success has grown steadily ever since.
Sevilla’s enthusiasm and dedication to the authentic Spanish Cuisine and ambiance in every detail has been the driving force behind the establishment and still sustains it to this day. The dance club began as an unfinished cellar with a single light bulb, and months later the Flamenco Show and Club were born. In 1992, Eric Van Den Haute was named General Manager (later becoming CEO), bringing experience, fresh ideas and determination to the business.
Sevilla is best know for combining three distinct environments under one roof: the authentic Tapas Bar, the casually elegant restaurant featuring award-winning Spanish and coastal cuisine, and the lively nightclub with live music and dancing seven nights a week. At the heart of Sevilla’s entertainment program is the weekly Flamenco Dinner Show, featuring the best authentic Flamenco and gypsy musicians and dancers in Southern California.
Sevilla in San Diego just celebrated its 25th anniversary. In 2000 the company expanded with a large new location in historic downtown Riverside, and in 2006 on lively Pine Avenue in Long Beach. A full-service Sevilla Catering division offering the best California fusion as well as Spanish cuisine was launched in 2002. Much more is in store as Sevilla continues to bring the energy and spirit of Spain to Southern California.
