In 1913, Riverside voters expanded the Riverside Light Department (formed in 1895) by adding a water distribution service and established Riverside Public Utilities as it is known today. More than 115 years later, our main objective hasn’t changed - provide our customers with high-quality water and electric services at affordable rates.

Riverside Public Utilities has helped its customers conserve water for nearly 15 years. Beginning in 2001, RPU offered rebates for water-saving devices such as low-flow toilets and showerheads.
